For the year 2022, we have The International 2022 or TI11, which is the eleventh event in The International series. If you are a Dota 2 esports fan, you are probably super excited about TI11. Here is our take on everything you need to know about The International 2022.

Dota 2 The International 2022 Match Format

Twenty teams are participating in The International 2022 Dota 2. These teams are divided into two separate groups of ten, where they compete in a Robin-Round format. All matches in this group stage have a best-of-three match format.

The top four teams from each group, totaling eight teams, get advanced to the Upper Bracket of the Main Event. Teams from 5th to 8th place from both groups get to the Lower Bracket of the Main Event. All remaining teams get eliminated from the tournament.

The Upper and Lower Brackets each compete in double-elimination style matches. The teams that placed 1st during the Group Stages get to pick their opponent for round one. They can choose a team from the 3rd and 4th position from the opposite group.

The teams that placed 5th during the Group Stages also get to pick their opponents for round one. They can choose a team from the 7th or 8th place from the opposite group.

With The International 2022, TI returns to Aisa for the second time. The International 2022 will take place in Singapore. The Playoffs will take place in Suntec Singapore, a large Convention / Exhibition Center located in the Central Area of Singapore. On the other hand, the Finals will take place in the Singapore Indoor Stadium, located in Kallang, Singapore.

Dota 2 The International 2022 Prize Pool

The prize pool for The International is made up of two parts. The first part is the base prize pool. While most people would think otherwise, the base prize pool is not the one that makes up the bulk of the total prize pool.

Part of the prize pool consists of crowd-funded money. This money comes from in-game Battle Pass sales. People spend money on the in-game battle pass. 25% of the revenue generated from Battle Pass spending goes to the prize pool. It is also what makes up the major chunk of the prize pool. The prize pool for The International 2022, or TI11, is a whopping 16.7 million dollars.

The surprising part is that only 1.6 million of the total prize pool is from the base prize pool. The rest consists of crowdfunding money from the Battle Pass sales. What's even more insane is that this number will grow as more people spend on the Battle Pass.

Where To Watch The International 2022

If you want to watch matches from The International 2022 live, you can check out the official Dota 2 Twitch and YouTube channels. However, with the live streams, you will be limited to the perspective that hosts will be controlling. You won't be able to spectate your favorite players all the time.

However, there is another way you can watch matches from The International 2022. You can watch them through an in-game "Watch Game" feature. Unlike live streams, the in-game method allows you to spectate any player you like for the whole match.
