Best Valorant Agents for Beginners

Choosing an Agent in Valorant can be a bit daunting. However, there are some clear winners for players at certain skill levels. Here are our top picks for the best Valorant Agents for beginners.

Can’t You Choose Just Any Agent

The short answer is yes. Even if you are a beginner, you can choose any agent if you feel comfortable with all their abilities. You might even get a good grip on a relatively difficult Agent and be able to use their abilities quite effectively. If that's the case with you, more power to you.

However, there are certain Agents in the game that are much more beginner friendly. Some of the Agents in the game have abilities that aren't that complicated to use and can be used quite effectively with minimal effort.

Sage

Probably the best Agent you can pick as a beginner is Sage. No need to take our word for it. The stats prove this as well. Sage is one of the highest-picked Agents in the game, and the main reason for it is how beginner-friendly she is. The main benefit of Sage for beginners is that using her abilities is much more forgiving, and there aren't many instances where you can go wrong with them.

The thing is, when you play Valorant as a beginner, you are bound to make mistakes. Since you will most likely be at one of the lower ranks if you are a beginner, enemies coming up against you in matches will also make many mistakes. It's quite normal for beginner players to do this.

However, where Sage shines is with her ability to punish enemies ten times more for their mistakes and give your teammates another chance despite making mistakes. At lower ranks, this gives your team a massive edge over the other.

Imagine that you are playing as Sage, and your teammate manages to get a frag but dies in the process. If you do nothing, it's a fair trade that both teams have to deal with. However, with your ultimate ability, you can bring your teammate back to life, which means the enemy team is now at a massive disadvantage.

Her other abilities aren't that hard to use. You don't have to make careful calculations about who you should heal. Just heal the first teammate to get low, and no one will get mad at you. You can throw your slow orb at locations where you think the enemies might come from, or you can block that path off completely with her ice wall.

Brimstone

Sage is the most picked Agent in Valorant, especially for beginners at low ranks. For this reason, you will find that Sage has already been picked by someone else in most matches. Unless you are playing with your friends. In that case, you can ask your friends to not pick Sage.

Another great Agent you can pick as a beginner is Brimstone. Even if Sage is available to pick, this is a viable option for you to pick as a beginner. The best part about Brimstone is that he is not only a great Agent for beginners, but he is also a must-pick for most maps at higher ranks. So, if you decide to stick with Brimstone, you can do that regardless of what skill level or rank you are at.

Brimstone has some of the strongest map control abilities, which are the three deployable smokes. While there are other smoke Agents in the game, using brimstones smoke ability is incredibly easy. All you have to do is pick out the locations where you want to place the smokes, and all three smokes will land there at the same time.

His other abilities are great as well. His molly or the incendiary is great for blocking off a push from the enemy or at least slowing it down. His Stim Beacon doesn't have much utility but is a useful addition. Lastly, his Orbital Strike is the ultimate defuse denial ability. The best part is that you won't be required to do intense calculations to use these abilities.

Raze

Both the Agents mentioned above are a bit support oriented. It means that in certain situations, your team might expect you to use your abilities in a certain way. For example, a dead teammate might expect you to revive them, or maybe some of the teammates might be waiting for you to smoke a plant site so they can make the push. While all of this won't require much effort from you, it still is a responsibility that you have to take care of.

If you want a more carefree Agent whose abilities aren't that essential for your team in certain situations, then you should definitely pick Raze. However, it doesn't mean that her abilities aren't strong. It is simply because Raze is a duelist, and the abilities of duelists are always like this.

You won't have to do much thinking before you use Raze's abilities. You can simply send the Boom Bot where you think that the enemy might be, or in the general direction where you saw an enemy. The best case scenario is that you will get a kill and the worst case scenario is that you will know the enemy's location.

Up next is her Blast Pack. The Blast Pack is great for getting on top of certain spots. As for her Paint Shells, they are best for clearing enemies out from hiding spots. Just throw them where you think enemies are hiding, and they will have to move away. Finally, for her ultimate, all you have to do is aim and fire. Just like Brimstone, Raze is also a viable Agent at higher ranks, so she is a great Agent to master.

Final Thoughts

While these are some of the best Agents for beginners, there is no reason why you shouldn't try some other Agents. You might perform well with some other Agents, despite being a beginner. Just make sure that you are not switching from one Agent to the other every day.
