Why New World Is the Next Favorite MMORPG of Gamers

Amazon is huge. Amazon is basically the leader of the world of e-commerce and cloud computing services. Amazon is literally what almost everyone in this world uses to get their products delivered. Need a new blender, you can order it on Amazon. Need a complete home security system Amazon has that too. What most people don't know is that Amazon also provides cloud servers. Amazon provides servers for almost 90% of all the large game companies.

Gaming has become the most popular medium of entertainment and, it is taking over the entertainment industry by storm. It seems only natural that Amazon would want a piece of this pie.

Amazon has developed an MMORPG game called NEW World and, it is a big hit. The game is breaking records left and right with its player count. It is highly likely that you also know about the game and are thinking of buying it. It is safe to say that New World is on its path towards becoming the next favorite MMORPG of gamers. Let's dive deep into this topic and figure out why that is the case.

Amazon’s Track Record as a Game Developer

Amazon's journey to becoming a game developer that can make a really popular game has been rough, to say the least. Before the launch of New World, Amazon was not really known as a good game developer. Amazon tried to make several games but was not successful in getting players to play them.

The last game that was developed by Amazon, before making New World, was Crucible. Crucible was a third-person free-to-play title. If we were to describe that game with one word it would literally be "failure". The game was pushed back into beta after its launch and scraped only after a few months. Games developed by Amazon have usually seen a similar fate, with some being scrapped after launch while others being scrapped mid development. However the launch of New World has completely changed the perception of Amazon as a game developer.

Why is it becoming the Next Big MMORPG

New World launched on the 28th of September, 2021, after staying in beta for a long time and getting its launch date delayed from 2020. It would not be an exaggeration to say that New World blew up right after its launch.

New World is a third-person MMORPG game and, unlike the previous game developed by Amazon, Crucible, it is not free-to-play. Currently, the market is being dominated by free-to-play games like Fortnite and Warzone and, the free-to-play model has proven to be a successful strategy. It is impressive to see a new developer make a game that is not free-to-play and is also very successful.

New World launched on steam. Steam is the Amazon for games and, almost all gamers that play games on PC are familiar with this platform. Most popular games that proved to be very successful launched on steam. However, none of these managed to pull off what New World did. On the day of launch, New World managed to break records by achieving a concurrent player count of 700, 00 players.

There is no doubt that New World is a very successful game and is becoming one of the most popular MMORPG games. Players are flocking over to this game and its concurrent player count anything but low. Here are some more features of the game that explain why we consider it to be the next big MMORPG.

The Hype

Given the current situation of the gaming industry, it is not enough for a game to just be good. A game needs to have an effective marketing campaign to be successful. It is not uncommon to see great games become huge failures because of their marketing and launch strategy.

Let's take the example of a game developed by the same developers who gave us the massively popular Apex Legends. The game we are talking about is Titanfall 2. Titanfall 2 was developed by "Respawn Entertainment". Anyone who played the game acknowledged that it was a great game with impressive gameplay mechanics and movement. The game was also fun to play. However, it was not successful at all. The launch date for Titanfall 2 was between the launch dates for two major giants Battlefield and COD. With the poorly selected launch date and almost no marketing, the game failed miserably.

New World had a massive PR campaign with almost all the popular streamers and YouTubers promoting the game. Even before the game was launched, everyone was talking about the game. New World managed to attract millions of views on twitch with popular streamers like Shroud playing and live streaming the game.

Accessibility

MMORPG games have always been a bit difficult to get into for casual gamers. It felt as if there was some kind of divide between gamers where on one side there were players who play MMORPG games whole on the other side, there was the rest of the gaming community.

The design of New World makes it feel less daunting for players who have never played an MMORPG. Its gameplay appeals to the casual player as well and, it makes that game much more accessible. Players that have never touched an MMORPG are having fun in this game.

It’s Just Fun

Marketing and game design go hand in hand to make a game successful. Along with a great PR campaign, the game is also fun to play. However, the game adds almost nothing new to the genre of MMORPG games. For example, MMORPG games inherently require tons of grinding and, so does New World.  New World makes the grinding experience better by adding a great weapon crafting system that keeps you engaged. Another example of an MMORPG game feature is the repetitive quests. In New World, you will come across new enemies almost every single time and, it makes the game feel fresh and interesting.

In conclusion, New World has proven to be a massive success at launch and it does not seem to lose its player count any time soon. New World is on its way to becoming the favorite MMORPG for gamers. Some credit can be given to its PR twitch live stream campaign, however, the game is simply fun. Players have reported having a blast while playing the game with their friends and we recommend you give it a try as well.
