This Week in Gaming: Jan 15 - Jan 21 2022
The world of video games is ever increasing, with news on new games, expansions, and gaming hardware surfacing on the internet almost every day. And since everyone cant be online at all times, looking at everything that is being announced, we thought we should do something about it. So, to help bring the news to everyone, we are going to be updating the world about what all is happening in the gaming industry. Think of it as a recap.
So, let’s begin!
The Call of Duty for 2022 Might Get Released Early
The reveal trailer for Call of Duty Vanguard was not that well received. This is probably due to the fact that most gamers were tired of seeing all those World War 2 and World War 1 Era first-person shooters and did not like that the same route was being taken with the new Call of Duy Title.
Despite the fact that Call of Duty Vanguard became one of the best-selling games during the month of its launch, the sales numbers quickly started to drop off in the next month or so. The game did not even manage to beat the sales numbers of its predecessor, Call of Duty Cold War.
All these things combined, it is fair to say that Call of Duty Vanguard is not doing that well. Because of this, the launch for the next Call of Duty game may get pulled back into October instead of November. The main source of this speculation is the recent tweet by Tom Henderson, who states that the next Call of Duty game is going to be Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which will be revealed in the summer of 2022, and will launch in October.
The PC Port for God of War Gets Released and Is Received Well
After a long wait, the PC port for God of War is finally here. The PC port launched on the 14th of January, 2022, and from the looks of it, people are loving it. The initial reception for the game is great, with the game looking stunning in terms of graphics. Some people are even calling it the definitive edition for the game.
The PC port for God of War has made several improvements from the base game. Most of these improvements are related to graphics, but that is not a bad thing at all. The bulk of the improvements includes improvements in the render distance, texture resolution, reflection detail, and many other graphical features.
The Biggest Gaming Deal Ever - Microsoft Acquires Activision Blizzard
This is by far the biggest deal in the history of gaming. Microsoft is all set to acquire Activision Blizzard for a whopping 70 billion dollars. Yup, that's right, 70 billion dollars. It's no news to most of us that Microsoft is on an acquisition spree right now but this deal tops everything. There is still some time left for the complete acquisition to take place as it is scheduled for the mid of fiscal year 2023.
Halo Infinite’s Store Items Finally Getting A Price Cut
With the backlash that was seen with the extremely high prices for the playable characters of Star Wars Battlefront that were released a few years ago, it is safe to say that gamers generally don’t like expensive in-game items. A similar backlash was seen for the store items for Halo Infinite. However, it seems that the prices are now finally lowered.
The head of design at 343, Jerry Hook, recently tweeted stating that they have had a close eye on the prices of the items available in the shop. Along with this the community feedback for these prices has also been observed since the launch of the game. Finally, the tweet suggests that the store items will be seeing a price cut within the next week.
These developments that are about to take place are a step in the right direction. This shows that the developers actually care about the community and are willing to make some changes according to what the community wants.
