This Week in Gaming: 1st - 7th Nov 2021

The world of video games is ever increasing, with news on new games, expansions, and gaming hardware surfacing on the internet almost every day. And since everyone cant be online at all times, looking at everything that is being announced, we thought we should do something about it. So, to help bring the news to everyone, we are going to be updating the world about what all is happening in the gaming industry. Think of it as a recap.

So let’s begin!

No More Wall-hacks in Battlefield 2042

About a week ago, the gameplays for the new Specialists for Battlefield 2042 were revealed. One of these specialists, , comes equipped with the specialty "EMG-X Scanner" which allows her to see enemies through walls. It practically seemed like wall-hacks. The battlefield community was unhappy about this, to say the least.

NVidia just revealed the Official PC Trailer for Battlefield 2042 showcasing the RTX features available in Battlefield 2042. The one thing in this trailer that caught everyone's eye was the part where the EMG-X Scanner Specialty was shown. It seems that the ability is not as powerful as players were speculating and may not pose a threat to the overall gameplay experience.

The Multiplayer Map “Streets” for Halo Infinite Revealed

The exclusive look for the multiplayer map "Streets" for Halo Infinite is live on the official YouTube channel of IGN. As the name suggests the map is set in the streets of an urban area. The map reveal was extensive and covered tons of details and areas that players would love to explore. The overall design of the map is great.

It is not common for other first-person shooters to include tons of verticality unless they are set in the distant future. However, Halo fans are much familiar with the use of verticality in popular Halo maps from previous Halo titles. The "Streets" map also includes some verticality that will certainly result in some interesting plays.

Current Gen Consoles Won’t Be Getting 120FPS Support at Launch for Battlefield 2042

Battlefield titles have always been a bit downgraded for console players. These downgrades come either in terms of lowered graphics, a reduction in the total numbers of players allowed in a match, or a reduction in the max allowable framerate.

Battlefield titles have always pushed the boundaries of gaming technology and graphics. The hardware of gaming consoles are not been able to meet the requirements for such insane graphics and levolution technologies.

It seems that Console Gamers will fall victim to these downgrades again. Battlefield 2042 will not have support for 120 FPS for current-gen consoles at launch. As stated by a developer at Dice, the CPUs in current-gen consoles do not have the necessary processing power to push these framerates in Battlefield 2042.

New Quake Game Being Developed?

Quake is one of the most popular first-person shooters. There is good news for fans of the Quake games as ID may be developing a new installment for the Quake series. However, this is all speculation made based on some information gathered from different sources. This information includes some open job positions at ID's development studio. These job positions are long-running and relate to an action fps currently in development. People are required to know science fiction and fantasy elements. This all led to the conclusion that the game is the next title for the Quake series.

New World’s Concurrent Player count Normalizes

New World launched with a blast with tons of players flocking in to experience the game. New World broke several player count records at a rapid pace. Just a few days after launch, New World managed to gain a concurrent player count of over a million players on steam.

Now it seems that the dust has settled. The concurrent player count for New World has normalized. The concurrent player count for New World hovers around half a million players on steam. While this is also not low by any means, New World would have to add some new updates and features to attract more players or bring back players that have stopped playing the game.

Roblox Outage Finally Over

Roblox is one of the largest games in the world at the moment when it comes to player count. The game currently manages a total daily player count of 40 million.

For the 40 million players, something really unexpected happened on the 28th of October, 2021. On that date, Roblox started experiencing some issues and, right after that the game completely went down. Roblox official posted on Twitter on the 30th of October, 2021, stating that they are working on a fix for the outage and would keep the fans updated about the situation.

After 3 long days, the outage is over and, the game is back online. While in the Tweet Roblox mentioned that "the outage was not related to any specific experiences or partnerships on the platform", it is still unclear that what actually caused the outages.

Apex Legends Escape Update Is Here

Call of Duty Vanguard Specs and Preloading Revealed

When it comes to system requirements for an upcoming title, players generally get nervous about whether they will be able to meet them or not. Technology is advancing at a rapid pace. The latest games these days require much more horsepower from gaming hardware like graphics cards and processors. However, with the recommended system requirements for Call of Duty Vanguard, it seems that almost everyone will be able to play it. The recommended processor is an i5-2500k or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, while the recommended graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580.

While the recommended system requirements tell us that a lot of people will be able to meet them, the system requirements for competitive settings may be out of reach for most people considering the current prices of GPUs.

The Preload for PC went live on the 2nd of November 2021. It seems that players are all set for the Call of Duty Vanguard launch, as tons of players have already downloaded the preload. The preload size is 61 GB for the download, while a free storage space of 89.84 GB will be required for the complete game files.
