This Week in Gaming: Jan 1 - Jan 7 2022
The world of video games is ever increasing, with news on new games, expansions, and gaming hardware surfacing on the internet almost every day. And since everyone cant be online at all times, looking at everything that is being announced, we thought we should do something about it. So, to help bring the news to everyone, we are going to be updating the world about what all is happening in the gaming industry. Think of it as a recap.
So, let’s begin!
Details for the Nest Call of Duty Game Get Leaked
While it hasn't been that long since the launch of the latest Call of Duty game in 2021, we may already have a sneak peek at what the next Call of Duty game will look like for 2022. With some leaks on Twitter, it appears that the next Call of Duty game might be "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2" and will have a game mode that is similar to Rainbow Six Siege. According to the leak, the game mode will be called "Attackers v. Defenders."
The fact that we might get another Modern Warfare game this year is not that much of a surprise. This is because Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 was considered by many to be one of the best Call of Duty games ever launched. With such a positive reception, it only seems natural that Activision would choose this route.
The Witcher 3 Gets a Boost in Its Concurrent Player Count
The concurrent player count for “The Witcher 3” on Steam rose to a high number of 78 thousand plus concurrent players on the 2nd of January, 2022. After hovering around 15 to 30 thousand for a long while, and its all-time peak concurrent player count being 100 thousand, this is a substantial achievement for the game.
A correlation is quite apparent between this new growth in popularity for the game and the latest season for "The Witcher" series that launched in December of 2021. It appears that this rise in the concurrent player count initiated on the 17th of December, 2021, and season 2 for the Witcher series came out on this exact date.

We Might Be Getting a New Map for Battlefield 2042
On the 5th of January, 2022, Battlefield just posted on Twitter, hinting to the community that we may be getting a new battlefield map for Battlefield 2042. The tweet mentioned Tanjong, which is a location in one of the Battlefield 2042 maps. However, there is not much we can make of this tweet as there is not much given to us at the moment. It is not clear what Battlefield 2042 has in store for us, all we can do is speculate.
Activision Is Starting To Take the Cheating Problem Seriously Now
Call of Duty Warzone was a big hit because of multiple factors, including it being free-to-play and having one of the best movement and gun mechanics ever seen in a Call of Duty game. However, the game has been suffering from a huge loss in player count as tons of players started to leave the game due to its cheater and hacker problem.
Recently, Activision has started to take this situation seriously. An impressive new Anti-Cheat system was launched along with the launch of Call of Duty Vanguard, which banned tons of cheaters. In latest news, Activision is suing the company that is responsible for distributing all the cheats and hacks for Call of Duty Warzone.
Apex Legends, New Update, New Bug
Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale games at the moment. However, it still has its fair share of bugs and other issues. While the devs have been working hard and have successfully fixed most of the bugs, there is always a new one that sneaks up under their radar.
With the latest update for Apex legends, we got a new skin for Bangalore. However, we can't enjoy it because whenever someone equips this skin the game crashes. We saw a similar kind of bug a few weeks ago, and its back. The devs are working hard to fix this but it does not look like it's going to go away soon.
