Dota 2 Primal Beast Guide
The latest hero in Dota 2 is here, and a lot of people don't know about its potential. If you want to learn how to play with this new hero, then you are at the right place. Here is our complete guide on how to play Primal Beast in Dota 2.
Primal Beast Abilities
Onslaught
First up, we have the Onslaught ability. With this ability, Primal Beast starts running in a direction chosen by the player. All heroes will get knocked back if they come in Primal Beast's path, regardless of whether they are enemy heroes or allies. Enemies also get stunned and deal some damage when they get hit by the Primal Beast during his Onslaught run.
Because of the Onslaught ability, it becomes difficult for other heroes to run away from Primal Beast. If you are low on hp and have Primal Beast on your tail, you can be sure that he will close that gap in no time and catch you.
Trample
Next up, we have Trample. With this ability, Primal Beast will start stomping with intense force on the ground, damaging the enemy team in a certain radius around him. Damage will only get inflicted if Primal Beast covers a distance of 140 units, which is not that difficult.
Primal Beast can also run around in circles and still inflict damage. However, the first stomp does not require any distance covered. The damage radius for the Trample ability is 230 units.
Uproar
Players will have to take five hits of at least 50 damage before being able to use this Uproar ability. However, this does not mean players can activate this ability with just one hit of 250 damage. Players must take five hits over 50 damage, regardless of how much more the damage is on top of 50.
With the Uproar ability, Primal Beast will release a roar, which boosts his armor and attack damage for seven seconds. The Uproar will also slow down enemies in a certain radius around him.
Pulverize
For his ultimate ability, Primal Beast has Pulverize, where Primal Beast grabs an enemy and slams them repeatedly into the ground, inflicting damage on them. Along with that, as Primal Beast slams an enemy into the ground, other enemies within a certain radius of the Primal Beast will get damaged and mini-stunned.
The Pulverize ability lasts 2.3 seconds but inflicts a ton of damage when active. Pulverize is a perfect ability to finish off an enemy who has dealt some damage already.
Rock Throw
Players get this ability after acquiring Aghanim's Shard. As the name suggests, with the Rock Throw ability, Primal Beast picks up a rock and throws it at a target. However, the Rock Throw has a minimum distance of 550 and can't be thrown nearer to Primal Beast than this distance.
As the rock lands, it stuns and damages nearby enemies. The rock also splits into three smaller rocks upon impact. These three rocks hurtle even further, damaging and stunning enemies in a certain radius upon impact.
Roles
Primal Beast is the most effective at either the Mid-Laner or the Off-Laner role. Primal Beast becomes a real annoyance during the early game or the Laning phase. With his abilities, Primal Beast can harass enemies quite effectively. He can also turn incoming harassment from the enemy side into his strength using his Uproar ability.
Another thing that makes Primal Beast super effective during the lane phase is his high base hp and base damage output. Because of these two things, he can get easy kills during the Laning phase, and there aren't many heroes in Dota 2 that can counter him during this phase.
Another role that Primal Beast excels at is the Initiator role. He is a great fight starter. He can quickly jump over an unsuspecting enemy, lowering them and stunning them for his teammates to come and finish off. If any other enemy tries to run away from the fight, he can quickly catch them and easily kill them using his Trample and Uproar ability.
However, one role that Primal Beast is not particularly that good at is the Carry. While most people would think he would be perfect as a Carry, it is not the case with Primal Beast.
Play Style
Primal Beast is best suited for an aggressive playstyle. You must harass enemies during the lane phase so they can't get properly farmed. If you see an opportunity for a potential kill, act on it as quickly as possible. It won't be easy for enemies to defend themselves from the Primal Beast, especially if you surprise them.
Primal Beast benefits from moving around as much as possible during the mid and late phases of the game. You need to be the one that initiates fights. However, if your teammates get into a fight, you can quickly head over to support them using the Onslaught ability.
The Onslaught ability works best when paired with the Trample ability because of the distance requirement of the Trample. Since Primal Beast will cover a ton of distance while performing the Onslaught ability, he will deal that much damage if the Trample ability is active.
Another ability also best paired with the Onslaught ability is Uproar. Primal Beast can catch up to an enemy low on hp using Onslaught and then use the Uproar ability to slow them so he and his teammates can finish the enemy off.
Final Thoughts
Dota 2 is a game that gets updated quite frequently. While the guide mentioned above will hold, for the most part, the effectiveness of Primal Beast may change in certain situations of the game if he gets heavily nerfed or buffed. So, keep an eye out for changes with Primal Beast.
