EA Named as Worst Company of America

For the second time, video games developer and publisher and industry giant Electronic Arts (EA) has been named by consumers as the worst company in America. The company behind popular games such as NFS, Ultima, The Sims, and others has also won the award last year - making it the first and only company to bag the award for two consecutive years. 


The Worst Company in America poll started back in 2006. The poll is run annually by consumer affair website The Consumerist and is voted by its readers. Winners of the said poll are given a Golden Poo trophy. Since the poll's inception in 2006, only EA has won the Golden Poo Award twice in a row. 


EA's bad reputation can be traced to its recent business approach. These past few years, consumers are getting annoyed by EA's incessant attempt to milk money from consumers. Their scheme of selling things is probably the worst in the history of video games. Games (both desktop and mobile) which used to be sold as a whole are now being divided into several DLCs. Each of these DLCs are sold and even if you bought all of them, you still aren't sure that you have the complete game. It is quite annoying.


Some fans also get annoyed by the fact that EA buys a lot of good small-scale video game studios and companies. EA would then publish their games using the scheme stated above. You can also to the list the rumors that EA overworks their employees and also the poor customer support they provide.


Until EA departs from its bad practices, it is likely that they will still receive the Golden Poo Award next year.
